Turin is an important business and cultural center in Northern Italy, Piedmont region. To most people, the city is known as the home of the famous football club Juventus. The city is much more than that, however. Read below to find out why!
1. Lively center but not crowded with tourists
Turin is a city where people live with their families. This is not a huge tourist destination like Rome or Milan. The city center is build around the river with many bars and restaurants, lively crowds and no overwhelming masses of tourists. It’s cleaner, safer and quieter.
2. Wonderful views
If you step off the center by crossing the bridge over Poe river and walking about 10 minutes up the hill, you will reach a church with an amazing view of Turin. And yes, this is just a 10 minute walk from the heart of the city.
3. Beautiful architecture wherever you go
Turin is a beautiful representation of Italian and European style. The architecture is amazing, lots of Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance elements still kept to this day.
4. Amazing scenery if you go a bit outside the city
A short drive away from the city center will bring you to one of the most famous churches in the city. Basilica di Superga is located at the top of the hill east of the city center. It is a 1700’s basilica overlooking the Alps. It offers breathtaking views of the whole city.
